Go if there’s graft, CM told
GEORGE TOWN: Gerakan vice-president Huan Cheng Guan has called on Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to resign if there is evidence that members of the DAP-led state government are involved in corruption.
‘‘Practise what you preach. Lim has been going around saying his government is the cleanest ever but now there is an allegation of wrongdoing in his government,’’ Huan said.
He said that as a matter of principle, Lim should be responsible for the actions of his subordinates.
Huan was responding to allegations by PKR Youth executive council member Amizudin Ahmat, who revealed at a recent Seberang Prai Municipal Council meeting that two state senior PKR leaders were working hand-in-glove with quarry operators to hide illegal activities.
Amizudin was later reported saying he was also verbally abused by those he accused.
Following this, Lim urged Amizudin to lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, while the state PKR set up an investigation panel.
State MCA deputy liaison committee chairman Eng Hiap Boon urged the panel to hasten the probe and practise the concept of Competency, Accountability and Transparency that the state government had espoused to.
Eng also said they must make public the findings of the probe.
State Assembly Speaker Abdul Halim Hussin said there was a gag order issued by the party so he could not comment until the investigation was completed.
State Anti-Corruption Commission director Latifah Yatim confirmed it was investigating the allegations.

Lab helper fined for insulting Sultan
By M. MAGESWARI, RUBEN SARIO, ZULKIFLI MOHAMAD and ZALINAH NOORDIN
KUALA LUMPUR: A private school lab assistant was fined RM10,000 in default five months’ jail for posting offensive comments against the Sultan of Perak on the Internet last month.
Azrin Md Zain, 33, who is attached to Kota Damansara school, became the first person to be convicted in the summons case under the Multimedia and Communications Act 1998.
Land surveyor Nor Hisham Osman, 36, pleaded not guilty to committing the offence at his residence in Seri Kembangan on Feb 11.
He is among six people who were charged in several states yesterday with posting profane remarks against the Perak Sultan.
At the Sessions Court here, Azrin admitted to having sent his comments from his house in Taman Tun Dr Ismail here to the guestbook at books.dreambook.com/duli/duli.html which has a link to the Sultan’s official website at 9.12pm on Feb 12.
He admitted before judge Rozana Ali Yusoff that he had made a blunder posting the comments.
“I was not in the right state of mind. I was in the midst of doing online forex trading to New York. My profits were negative. So I just clicked to the website. I posted the comments without thinking.
Mobile phone shop owner Rutinin Suhaimin, 36, claimed trial to the charge of committing the offence in the interior Kundasang town.
“I will not touch the website any more because Malaysians are actually sensitive,” he promised.
In mitigating further, Azrin said he was not a member of any political party. His father paid his fine later.
In the same court, self-employed Muslim Ahmad, 54, claimed trial to committing a similar offence in Setapak between Feb 7 and Feb 8.
Self-employed Muslim Ahmad, 54, claimed trial to committing similar offences in Setapak between Feb 7 and Feb 8.
Rozana set his bail at RM3,000 in one surety and April 8 for mention.
In PETALING JAYA, land surveyor Nor Hisham Osman, 36, pleaded not guilty to committing the same offence at his residence in Seri Kembangan on Feb 11.
A visibly shaken Nor Hisham said: “I didn’t know what came over me at that time. I’ve been under a lot of stress since my son died (of drowning) last year.”
Judge Balqis Ali Mohd Ali fixed bail at RM4,000 in one surety and April 4 for hearing.
In KOTA KINABALU, mobile phone shop owner Rutinin Suhaimin, 36, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court judge Ummu Kalthom Abdul Samad who fixed May 25 and 26 for trial.

Zainuddin Maidin and the rest of the UMNO

Zam’s "Big Secret" finally revealed!
The "Big Secret" that the Parliamentary Secretary sent to the Information Ministry, Zainuddin Maidin, popularly known as Zam, has finally been revealed.
2 Reformasi Websites, Mahazalim and Webreformis, listed the names of the Federal Ministers and Chief Ministers implicated in sexual misconduct…
On 2 April 2002, the Star reported Zam as saying that Ustaz Taib Azzamuden Mohd Taib is "keeping a big secret". Ustaz (religious teacher) Taib, who is now the Member of Parliament for Baling, Kedah, was one-time Grand Imam of the National Mosque.
According to the New Straits Times of 29 April 2002, Muhammad Mohd Taib, one of UMNO’s Vice Presidents, and Khalil Yaakob, the previous Secretary General of UMNO said that the Ustaz "was reluctant to reveal the truth… with regards to a serious national issue."
Then, on 2 May 2002, Muhyiddin Yassin, another UMNO Vice President, urged the Ustaz to reveal the "big secret" that he was privy to in his tenure as the Grand Imam of the National Mosque. This plea was carried by the national radio stations.
On 7 May 2002, Ustaz Taib held a press conference at the PAS Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur to reveal the "big secret" Zam had accused him of "hiding" from the public.
"In my tenure as the Grand Imam of the National Mosque from 1992 to 1999, and the number two from 1986, various individuals and parties, in particular from the government, referred many matters to me for my views, guidance, advice and counseling service" explained the Ustaz.
"These were mainly problems related to Islamic matters and normally personal and confidential in nature." "However, I have been challenged by Zam (Zainuddin Maidin), Muhammad Mohd Taib, Khalil Yaakob, and Muhyiddin Yassin to come clean and reveal what I know."
"As a Muslim, it is my duty to dispel all rumours and speculation and ensure that no one is under suspect. Therefore, on the insistence of these people, I have no choice but to clear the air and reveal the truth."
The Ustaz then went through the list of "big secrets" that he had kept inside of him for so long. He, however, did not name names and said he would only do it if Zam insisted so. Today, the Reformasi Websites identified all those that the Ustaz would not name:
1. A Chief Editor of a mainstream newspaper who had an affair with a young girl while his wife lay paralysed in bed –Zam himself.
2. A Chief Minister who eloped to Thailand to secretly marry his second wife
–Muhammad Mohd Taib (Then Chief Minister of Selangor).
3. A Federal Minister who was caught with a female artiste in a Port Dickson hotel room –Najib Tun Razak (Defence Minister) and Ziana Zain.
4. A Federal Minister whose brother was arrested for drug trafficking
–Muhyiddin Yassin.
5. A Federal Minister who had an affair with someone else’s wife that eventually resulted in a broken marriage
–Ruhaini Ahmad.
6. A Chief Minister who had an affair with someone else’s wife that eventually resulted in a broken marriage
–Muhammad Mohd Taib.
7. A Chief Minister who had an affair with an under-aged girl
– Rahim Tambi Chik (Then Melaka Chief Minister).
8. A Chief Minister who had an affair with a girl who eventually gave birth to an illegitimate child
–Shahidan Kassim (Perlis Chief Minister).
9. A Chief Minister who kept an under-aged mistress at a condominium in Kuala Lumpur
–Shahidan Kassim.
10. A religious leader who had an illicit affair and who is now holding a prominent position in a very important government religious body -Ismail Ibrahim of the National Fatwah Council.
11. A Chief Minister who had an affair with his sister-in-law who have birth to an illegitimate child
–Abu Hassan Omar (then Selangor Chief Minister).

MB linked to illegal mining, claims rep
SHAH ALAM: A Barisan Nasional state assemblyman claims an individual closely linked to the Selangor Mentri Besar may be involved in illegal sand mining.
Kuala Kubu Baru assemblyman Wong Koon Mun said the individual concerned recently reported to the police that two of his excavators had been stolen.
“The excavators were reported stolen in an area well-known for sand theft,” said Wong in the state assembly sitting yesterday in his motion of thanks to the Sultan of Selangor’s opening address.
Wong added outsiders closely linked to Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had also stationed themselves at the fifth floor of the state secretariat building here.
In response, Bernama reported that Khalid, in a brief clarification outside the assembly hall, said there were no activities on the fifth floor of the secretariat building.
Earlier in the state assembly, Wong said only RM3mil worth of sand had been sold to date, and questioned how Khalid would raise the figure to RM50mil at the end of the year as the Mentri Besar had previously claimed.
“In the previous state assembly, the Mentri Besar had stated that the Selangor government would raise RM150mil per annum from the sale of sand. However, the figure was reduced to RM50mil in this sitting,” he said.
When contacted, Wong said he had raised the allegation in the state assembly because he wanted to ensure that Khalid responded to it.

Six to be charged for insulting Perak Sultan via blogs, postings (Update 2)
By LOURDES CHARLES
KUALA LUMPUR : Six people, who allegedly insulted the Sultan of Perak via their blogs or online postings, are expected to be charged on Friday under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
They are expected to be charged in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Kota Kinabalu, and Butterworth under Section 233(1) of the Act for unwise use of network or network services by making comments, demands, suggestions or communication deemed vulgar, false, threatening or disturbing. The charges are to be read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
The six will thus become the first to be hauled up under the Act.
Two others are also expected to face similar charges in Terengganu on Sunday.
Those found guilty under the Act face a maximum fine of RM50,000 or a maximum jail term of one year or both as provided for under Section 233(3) of the Act.
Attorney General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail confirmed his officers are expected to charge several people on Friday but declined to elaborate on the facts of the case.
It is learnt that several senior Information, Communication and Technology executives working with the Perak State Secretary lodged a report with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on Feb 16 after reading the offending posting and comments in several of the blogs that is said to be linked to the Sultan of Perak’s web site.
Several of the offending comments were also posted and sent to the Perak state government website.
The MCMC acting on their complaint started a round the clock probe and after about a month of tedious investigations applied and obtained several search warrants from the courts to further investigate the matter.
They (MCMC) officers armed with the search warrants raided several premises and shop lots throughout the country including houses and shops in Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Brickfields, Kajang, Sri Kembangan, Permatang Pauh, Ranau in Sabah and several other places where the culprits were alleged to have operated from.
The sources said the raiding team seized lap tops, modems, personal computers and even telephone bills as evidence that is said to belong to the suspects and would produce them as evidence.
